Материалы:
популярная английская детская песня «The more we get together», декорации, костюмы участников.
Подготовительная работа:
перед спектаклем проводились репетиции с учащимися 4 класса, где особое внимание уделялось навыкам произношения, устной речи, умению держаться на публике и сплочению коллектива.
The Script of the performance “The Ugly Darkling”
Characters:
Mother-goose, 2 darklings, the ugly darkling, the dog, the cockerel, the fox, the bear, the wolf, the hare, the hedgehog, 3 swans.
Scene 1. In the yard
Mother-goose: My sweet darklings, let’s go swimming! Did you get together?
1, 2 Darklings: Yes, we did!
(2 darklings sing the song)
The more we get together
Together, together,
The more we get together
The happier we are!
For your friends are my friends,
And my friends are your friends,
The more we get together
The happier we are!
1 Darkling: Uh, this big egg is still here!
(the ugly darkling is pipping)
The Ugly Darkling: What a big world! Good morning!
Mother-goose & Darklings: Good morning! What big you are!
Mother-goose: Well, it’s time to go to the lake!
1, 2 Darklings: We can swim and we can dive!
(2 darklings sing the song)
I can dive and I can swim,
Dive and swim, dive and swim
I can dive and I can swim,
And you can dive with me!
(other domestic animals are going to the lake)
The dog: All darklings are so beautiful, but that one is so big!
The cockerel: It’s an ugly darkling!
Mother-goose: It’s not so beautiful, but it is kind and nice. It can swim well too!
(Mother-goose is patting on its back)
1, 2 Darklings: You are ugly, we won`t play with you!
The Ugly Darkling: Nobody wants to play with me! I will go away!
(The Ugly Darkling is going towards the forest)
Scene 2. In the forest
The Ugly Darkling: It’s autumn and it’s so cold here. I am so lonely!
The Fox: Hello! Who are you?
The Ugly Darkling: Hello! I am a darkling. Who are you?
The Fox: I am a fox. I live in this forest. What are you doing?
The Ugly Darkling: I am swimming and diving! (it shows it)
The Fox: I will eat you!
The Ugly Darkling: No, you won’t. I will swim away!
(the fox is going away)
(A baer is coming)
The Baer: Hello! What are you doing here? Winter is coming. It will be cold.
The Ugly Darkling: I know. But I can’t go home. Nobody wants to play with me. Do you want to be my friend?
The Baer: Ok, I can play with you only in spring, because I sleep in winter.
Goodbye!
(the bear is going away)
(A Wolf is coming)
The Wolf: What an ugly darkling! I am so hungry. I will eat you.
The Ugly Darkling: No, you won’t. I will swim away!
(the wolf is going away)
(A Hare is coming)
The Hare: Hello! Who are you?
The Ugly Darkling: Hello! I am a darkling. Who are you?
The Hare: I am a hare.
The Ugly Darkling: How are you?
The Hare: I am bad. I am always afraid of everybody. Sorry, I must run. Bye.
The Ugly Darkling: What a pity!
(the hare is going away)
(A Hedgehog is coming)
The Hedgehog: Hello! Who are you?
The Ugly Darkling: Hello! I am a darkling. Who are you?
The Hedgehog: I am a hedgehog. Why are so sad?
The Ugly Darkling: Nobody wants to play with me. Can you be my friend?
The Hedgehog: No, I can’t. You are a child. And I have my own family.
(A Hedgehog shows his photo album)
This is my wife and these are my children: my son and my daughter. I can give you advice. Wait for big white birds – swans. Bye.
The Ugly Darkling: Thank you. Bye.
Scene 3. Swans have flown
The Ugly Darkling: I see big white birds! What beautiful they are!
Swan 1: Good morning! What beautiful you are!
The Ugly Darkling: No, I am not. I am an ugly darkling.
Swan 2: Look at the water!
The Ugly Darkling: Wow, I am white and beautiful! Who am I?
Swan 3: You are a swan too. Fly with us! We are flying to the South.
The Ugly Darkling: I can’t fly.
Swans: Try!
The Ugly Darkling: I can fly! I am so happy!

It is summer.

«Oh dear! This egg is very big,» says mother duck.
Later, the sixth egg breaks. A big grey duckling comes out. «Oh no! This duckling is ugly!» shouts mother duck.
«Come on, ducklings. Let’s go and visit the hen,»
says mother duck.
She looks at the ugly duckling and she says,
«Walk behind your brothers and sisters.
I don’t want anybody to see you.
You’re ugly!»
The ugly duckling is sad.
The hen sees the ducklings.
She sees the ugly duckling too.
The hen laughs.
«Look! That duckling is silly!» says the hen.
«He has got short legs. He’s grey.
His beak is silly.
He’s an ugly duckling!»
Everybody laughs.
The ugly duckling is very sad.

The next day, the ugly duckling leaves.
He is crying because nobody likes him.
He walks and walks.
He sees some insects.
«Hello!» he says.
But the insects don’t talk to the ugly duckling.
Later, he sees some birds.
«You’re funny! We like you,» they say.
There is a loud noise.
«It’s a big dog!» the birds shout.
They fly away.
The ugly duckling is afraid.
He hides in the grass.
The big dog runs into the grass.
It sees the ugly duckling.
It smells the ugly duckling, but it goes away.
«The dog doesn’t like me because I’m ugly,»
says the ugly duckling.
The ugly duckling walks and walks.
He sees a house.
An old woman lives in the house.
She is cooking.
The ugly duckling can smell the food.
«Mmm. That food smells good!
I’m hungry,» he says.
The old woman looks at the ugly duckling.
«You’re a funny duckling,» she says.
«Are you hungry? Eat this food.»
The ugly duckling eats the food.

The ugly duckling wants to talk to the white birds.
He wants some friends.
«Hello. I’m ugly, but please be my friends,»
he says.
The white birds smile.
They like the ugly duckling.
«Hello, little brother,» say the white birds.
«Brother? I’m not your brother,»
says the ugly duckling.
«You’re beautiful and I’m ugly.»
«You aren’t ugly. Look at your face in the water,»
say the white birds.
The ugly duckling looks in the water.
He sees his face.
He is very surprised.
He isn’t ugly.
He is a beautiful white bird!
The ugly duckling is a swan!
Three children see the swans.
«Look! Look!» they say.
«There’s a new swan. He’s very beautiful.»
The new swan is shy.

Тема внеурочного занятия: The Ugly Duckling («Гадкий утёнок»)
Цель занятия: познакомить учащихся с историей Гадкого утенка; развивать навыки
аудирования и говорения.
Активная лексика/структуры: Look at my ducklings, Come and see! One, two, three!
I’m a (duck), Look at my Ugly Duckling.
Техническое оснащение: картинки duck, rabbit, mouse, tortoise, ксерокопии из раздела The
Ugly Duckling Activity Pages (c. 114) для каждого учащегося, чистые листы бумаги для
рисования, цветные карандаши.
Ход занятия.
I. Организационный момент.
1. Учитель и учащиеся приветствуют друг друга.
Hello, boys and girls!
Hello, teacher.
2. Учитель показывает на себя и говорит:
Hello, I’m Svetlana Gennadievna
Затем он предлагает учащимся представиться таким же образом. Он вызывает столько учеников,
сколько считает необходимым.
II. Фонетическая разминка по теме «Цвета».
При первом прослушивании дети показывают карандаши нужного цвета.
Повторяют текст песни за учителем.
Поём песню.

III. Работа по теме занятия:
1. Введение в тему (мотивация):
Учитель спрашивает детей на родном языке, читали ли они сказку Андерсена «Гадкий утенок».
Если дети знакомы со сказкой, он предлагает им коротко в 4—5 предложениях передать ее
основное содержание. Затем он говорит, что в этом году дети познакомятся с этой сказкой на
английском языке.
2. Работа с лексикой:
Введение лексики через визуализацию: на доске картинки утки, кролика, мышки и черепахи
Учащиеся повторяют за учителем слова duck, rabbit, mouse, tortoise хором и индивидуально.
Учитель берет картинку с изображением утки и говорит: I’m a duck. (rabbit, mouse, tortoise)
Учащиеся повторяют предложение хором и индивидуально. Таким же образом проходит работа с
остальными картинками.
Учитель вводит слово duckling, объясняя через визуальный образ, что оно означает «утенок»
— a baby duck. Учащиеся повторяют слово хором и индивидуально.
Таким же образом вводится слово ugly.
Отработка лексики по ролям:
Учитель вызывает к доске четыре человека и распределяет роли: duckling, rabbit, mouse,
tortoise.
Обучение фразе: What are you? Ученики повторяют ее хором и индивидуально.
Предварительно учитель переводит фразу на родной язык:
«Кто ты?» Затем он учит детей следующей фразе: I’m a duckling.
Ученик, исполняющий роль Гадкого утенка, представляется первым, а за ним все остальные.
Например:
Ученик 1: I’m a duckling. What are you?
Ученик 2: I’m a rabbit. И т. д.
3. Аудирование:
На экране высвечивается картинка из сказки «Гадкий утёнок»
Учитель на родном языке просит детей посчитать утят, спрашивает:
How many ducklings? — и переводит свой вопрос.
Получив ответ, учитель говорит по—английски:
Three – и показывает на пальцах.
Учитель предлагает учащимся прослушать аудиозапись, глядя на картинку: Listen and
look.

Перед вторым прослушиванием учитель произносит сказку по строчке, а дети
повторяют их хором и индивидуально.
Отрабатывая сложные звуки, учитель обращает внимание на правильность произношения и
интонации. Все строчки переводятся на родной язык. Во время второго прослушивания учитель
нажимает на паузу после каждой строчки, и дети хором повторяют фразы.
4. Творческая работа (рефлексия)
Учитель показывает на яйцо, из которого еще никто не вылупился, и спрашивает учащихся, как, по их
мнению, будет выглядеть Гадкий утенок. Он раздает учащимся листы бумаги и предлагает нарисовать
утенка таким, каким они его себе представляют. Как только дети закончат работу, они показывают
свои рисунки классу и говорят: Look at my Ugly Duckling, предварительно отработав эту фразу с
учителем. Затем в классе устраивается выставка работ учащихся.
5. Подведение итогов/Домашнее задание
Учитель раздает учащимся ксерокопии из раздела The Ugly Duckling Activity Pages (c. 114)
Дома вырезать все части пазлов и саму головоломку, наклеить на плотную бумагу, собрать и раскрасить.
